Get to Know an Agent in Attendance: Bethany Morehead of Hartline Literary

Screen Shot 2017-12-02 at 12.41.18 AM.pngBethany Morehead is a jr. literary agent with Hartline Literary.

She is seeking: children’s picture books, middle grade fiction, young adult fiction, women’s fiction, romantic fiction, and speculative fiction (sci-fi and fantasy).

Bethany is also a quirky millennial and award-winning author. She is deeply in love with Jesus, her hubby, and puppy. You will find her sipping on sweet tea sharing her deepest feelings with a pen to paper, rather than speaking them. Though introverted, she loves meeting and connecting with new people-especially while playing “nerd-tastic” board games.

Get to Know an Agent in Attendance: Jennifer Flannery of Flannery Literary

Screen Shot 2018-11-16 at 11.01.31 PM.pngLiterary agent Jennifer Flannery founded Flannery Literary in 1992 in New York after working at a literary agency in her hometown of Minneapolis and then in the trade department at HarperCollins. Flannery moved her offices to the Chicago area in 1997.

Flannery Literary is looking to find new talent and fresh voices, to help the as-yet-unpublished author find a publishing home. The publishing business is subjective and competitive, so finding a personal connection with a new client and his or her writing is essential and we are, therefore, highly selective about taking on new clients.

She seeks young adult novels, middle grade novels, and picture books. For MG and YA, she is probably not the best fit for sci-fi or fantasy. And she does not represent illustrators. She prefers her picture book submissions to be text only.
